Spearfish Local Hospitalas (SPRH) diabetes teachers will show a Diabetes Prevention class Tuesday, April 2. The class happens from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the SPRH FMC Conference Room at 1440 N. Main St. Charge of the type is $35 per person and features a pedometer, portion plate and cook book. Preregistration is required. Individuals may receive education about healthier food planning, exercise and approaches to minimize other diabetic risk facets. No doctor order is important to wait the school. Based on the American Diabetes Association, individuals with a higher risk for getting diabetes include: men and women 45 years or older, particularly those who are overweight; non-Caucasians; individuals who have had gestational diabetes; have had an infant weighing over 9 pounds; or have high blood pressure or high body fats.
